The Truth About Building a Business
Hey, you. Yeah, you— the one out here trying to build a business and wondering why it feels like pushing a boulder uphill while everyone else makes it look effortless. Let’s cut through the noise, shall we?
I know you’ve heard it all before—"just be consistent," "manifest your success," "hustle 24/7." And sure, some of that has merit, but if success came from consistency alone, I’d be a billionaire just from my ability to consistently overthink every decision I make.
Let me bust some myths for you that may be holding you back from your next win!
🚫 Myth: Success happens overnight.
✅ Reality: Unless you win the lottery (and even then, good luck keeping it), success takes time. Behind every "overnight success" is usually years of trial, error, and strategic action. The people you admire? They’ve probably failed more times than you’ve even tried—but they kept adjusting, showing up, and figuring it out.
🚫 Myth: Passion is enough to build a thriving business.
✅ Reality: Passion is cute, but it won’t pay the bills. Loving what you do is great, but a solid business model, smart strategy, and actual sales? That’s what keeps the lights on. Otherwise, you’ve just got a very expensive hobby.
🚫 Myth: If you build it, they will come.
✅ Reality: This only works in movies. (And even then, it's debatable.) Just because you launched a website, posted a pretty Instagram graphic, or made a TikTok doesn’t mean customers will magically appear. Visibility, marketing, and — brace yourself — selling are non-negotiable's.
So, now we've busted some common myths, let's break free like naughty school kids wagging school because we've got somewhere better to be.... lol pss. don't worry you're not going to get in trouble!
Let me introduce the idea of building your business better than ever before
If you really want to make this work, you’ve got to shift the way you think about business.
Here’s what I need you to know:
Intentionality Over Busywork – Stop glorifying "being busy" and start focusing on what actually moves the needle. Updating your logo for the 17th time? Not it.
Strategy Over Wishful Thinking – "Hope" is not a marketing plan. A clear, step-by-step strategy beats vague motivation every time.
Action Over Perfection – Waiting for the perfect moment, offer, or website? Stop. Your first version will always be a little messy—just launch the thing and refine as you go. Imperfect action beats inaction every single time.
I don't want you to finish reading this and then go back to your 'old ways', make some moves right here, right now. Not some dance floor moves but I'm talking biggest bang for your bucks kinda moves...
Take a hard look at what you’re doing every day—are these tasks actually moving your business forward or just making you feel productive? The best way to do this is write down every little and big thing you do on a daily basis for a week. Then at the end of the week take out some highlighters and decide what you're keeping, deleting and tweaking.
Pick one area where you know you need to step up (marketing, sales, audience growth—what’s the weak spot?) and decide to do something about it. Decision day is always the hardest but lean in. Don't just decide what area of your business you're going to step-up in, create a plan on what that looks like and make sure you're business will move forward as a result.
Take one bold action today — not Monday, not next month. Right now. Whether that’s making an offer, pitching a client, or tightening up your messaging—just move. Making moves, bold, badass moves, becomes addictive so as the Nike™ brand says 'Just do it'! You can thank me later.
Whilst some of this sounds simple, scary and even optional - it's not! It's these moves made on repeat that will see you build a strong foundation for your business growth. Not to mention, you showing yourself and the world 'who the hell you are and what you're here for'
I’m here for it all, the good, the bad and the ugly 😂 No seriously I'm here to help you build smarter, sell better, and scale faster, all without burning out or losing your mind.
Sound good? Good.
👉 Before you go, tell me—what’s the biggest business myth you’ve had to unlearn?
Until next time, make it happen my friend! It's time to rise and win
